Will my phlebotomy license be good anywhere I want to go?
This is a complicated question.  Oregon is one of few states that does not require a license to do phlebotomy.  Actually, it is perfectly legal in Oregon to pull someone in off the street and teach them on the job.  No employer would actually do that, but it's not against the law!

Most employers require formal training in phlebotomy, which is what we offer.  By taking the national exam at the end of the course, you are adding that much more to your  resume.  The more phlebotomy credentials you have the better.  There are some employers that require phlebotomists to have specific certification, but it varies from employer to employer and even from state to state.

What about certification agencies other than the NHA?
There are many certification agencies that offer EKG and Phlebotomy Certification.  You are free to pursue any certification that you would like to,but be sure to research the organization and be certain that they are nationally recognized, like the NHA.  For Phlebotomy certification agencies, please see this website for more information.

What percentage of OMT students pass the NHA national exams?
About 98%
